Stories from Our Veterans: From Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan

James Wright

While we are encouraged to remember “Those Who Served” during holidays like Memorial Day and Veterans Day, many times our vets are overlooked, left untreated for mental health issues like PTSD, left searching for jobs, or even left homeless. The truth is that fewer and fewer people have connections to those serving in our military than ever before, and so the issues surrounding veterans affairs have become less personal to the majority of households than in generations past, when nearly every family had a direct connection to our troops.

Join the World Affairs Council in an important discussion about our Veterans’ stories—those from Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

James Wright, author of Enduring Vietnam, will discuss the “cruelty of war, and [our vets] quiet acts of courage” during the Vietnam War, and the enduring impact of the Vietnam War on Ameircan and its world roll, followed by a panel discussion on the wars inIraq and Afghanistan.
